About Mr Daniel Walsh
Mr Daniel Walsh is a highly experienced consultant neurosurgeon based at The Wellington Hospital and King’s College Hospital in London. His practice focuses on complex neurovascular conditions and vascular tumours of the brain and spinal cord.
Educated in Ireland, Mr Walsh earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland after spending his early years in London and growing up in Ireland. He went on to complete rigorous neurosurgical training at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow, before refining his expertise in cerebrovascular surgery during a fellowship in Sydney, Australia, under the mentorship of Professor Michael Kerin Morgan. This period shaped his enduring interest in the management of vascular malformations affecting the central nervous system.
Mr Walsh has held significant roles in training and service development within British neurosurgery. He served as regional training programme director for neurosurgery and co-directed the neurovascular surgical fellowship programme at King’s College Hospital – the first in the UK to receive Royal College of Surgeons accreditation. His leadership positions have also included President of the British Neurovascular Group and board membership of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (Vascular Section).
Appointed in 2017 as clinical lead for NHS England’s national project on non-traumatic intracerebral and subarachnoid haemorrhage, Mr Walsh continues to advise NHS England on high-risk and low-volume neurosurgical services. He also teaches as a visiting clinical senior lecturer at King’s College London.
An active contributor to academic neurosurgery, he has published extensively, served as associate editor for vascular and skull base surgery at the British Journal of Neurosurgery, and continues to review for several leading international medical journals.
Mr Daniel Walsh's Reviews
I had a very good initial meeting with Dr Walsh. He took the time to listen carefully and then explained matters in a considered and clear manner. He arranged diagnostic tests quickly and his subsequent explanation of how best to proceed was both clear and reassuring.
